Defending the country's 'get up and go'!
Buses are the most frequently used form of public transport. Day in and day out they link thousands of people up and down the country to jobs, schools and shops. However, Government spending cuts are having a devastating effect on our vital bus services. If we don't make a stand now, it will be too late.

Buses under threat
Our interactive bus cuts map makes transparent the extent of the problem of local authority funding cuts to buses. This map is a crowd sourcing project, which means we are asking you to help us track bus cuts.
Council bus cuts are being made at a time when commercial bus services are also being hit hard by the cuts. A 20% cut to the fuel tax rebate for buses, called BSOG, will come into force in 2012. This comes on top of changes to the way that the concessionary bus pass scheme is paid for, which have left many local authorities out of pocket and buses most used by pass holders at greatest risk. All in all, buses could be tipped into a spiral of decline from which they will struggle to recover.
Stand up for your bus service
Save our Buses is making the case for buses to Government decision-makers and at the same time supporting local bus campaigners. Bus cuts will cause misery for bus users, obstruct the delivery of other public services and hold back the economy. From real ale drinkers to school children and ramblers, 27 organisations have joined Campaign for Better Transport to call for more to be done to protect buses.
