SBAE is an alliance of local Friends of the Earth groups, the local CPRE group and the parish councils around Bristol airport. The aim is to oppose unsustainable expansion of the airport and specifically to limit its impacts both locally and globally including climate change, noise, traffic, loss of green belt and negative economic effects.

July 2009: Bristol International Airport (BIA) applied for planning permission to expand. This development aims to increase passengers by 60% by 2019, increase passenger flights by 40%, summer night flights by 50%, car journeys by over 2m per year, and carbon emissions by at least 40%.
