Experience: I got involved with the Campaign for Better Transport in 1990, at first through the local groups in Leicestershire and then Nottinghamshire. I’ve been co-ordinating the network of regional Transport Activists’ Roundtables (TARs) for three years. Regional TARs are coalitions of campaigning groups in a particular region that are interested in sustainable transport.
Why I work for the Campaign for Better Transport: I first got involved with the Campaign for Better Transport when living in Leicester. I noticed the increase in traffic in my neighbourhood and the effect it was having on the area, and realised I had to do something about it.
Biggest transport gripe: Doublethink. People who say we need to drive and fly less, but don’t think twice before jumping in a car or on a plane.
Favourite means of transport: Walking. Particularly in what little unspoilt countryside there is left.
