Election 2010

Manifesto for improving everyday transport

In the runup to the election, we have a issued a manifesto calling on the parties to support some important policies and programmes to improve people's everyday transport.

The fair and practical solutions would, within existing budgets:

  • Improve public transport
  • Cut CO2 emissions significantly
  • Tackle obesity by getting more people walking and cycling
  • Lower train fares
  • Provide sustainable jobs
  • Increase opportunity
  • Reduce car use
  • Connect communities

The manifesto was drawn up by Campaign for Better Transport, Campaign to Protect Rural England, CTC – the national cyclists’ organisation, Friends of the Earth and Living Streets.

The manifesto is issued at the end of a series of speeches we sponsored with the transport spokespeople from the three main parties.
