Campaigners respond to Network Rail performance results

12 June 2014
Campaign for Better Transport has responded to the publication of Network Rail's annual results.

James MacColl, Campaigns Director, Campaign for Better Transport said

"To keep the railways growing, Network Rail must also play its part in getting basics like punctuality and fares right. As Network Rail's Chief Executive has said, fares continue to be too high. The challenge is to help cut them by both bringing costs down and maintaining services and safety. Government needs to play its part, too by permanently ending above inflation fares rises and to match spending on the tracks with investment in trains and rollingstock."

James MacColl said

"Increased investment in the railways is great news for passengers and the economy. The whole network needs to benefit from this, and not just those in London and the South East."
