20 May 2010: The new Coalition agreement includes a commitment to 'fair pricing for rail travel'. Will the 'greenest Government ever' give us affordable fares?
Under the previous Government, fares rose in real terms by 13%, pricing people off rail and back onto the roads.
Now there is an opportunity for a new policy. The Liberal Democrat manifesto promises train fare cuts and 82 MPs in the new parliament support our call for a review of fares.
But prices won't be fair until fares are lower: please contact the new Transport Secretary and tell him to cut fares [note: action now closed].
